The test changed on January 1, 2026. Most books on this page still describe the old one.

Florida shortened every multiple-choice subtest of the General Knowledge Test. English Language Skills went from forty questions to approximately thirty. Reading did the same. Mathematics went from forty-five to approximately thirty-five.

Look at the other guides here and check their page for the numbers they quote. Most of them will tell you to prepare for forty-five mathematics questions. Practice against that and both your timing and your sense of what carries weight will be off.

Built on the official percentages, not on guesswork

The blueprint publishes an approximate share of questions for every competency, and those shares are not what most candidates assume. Standard English conventions is about a third of the English Language Skills subtest, not two thirds. Vocabulary is another third, and it is the part almost nobody revises. In mathematics, number sense carries a quarter of the questions.

This book allocates its chapters and its practice questions in those proportions, and tells you what they are so you can allocate your time the same way.

What the reference sheet gives you, and what it does not

The mathematics subtest supplies an on-screen reference sheet and a four-function calculator — add, subtract, multiply, divide, nothing more. This book lists exactly which formulas appear on that sheet and which do not, because knowing that the slope formula is supplied and the quadratic formula is not changes what you need to memorize.
