Built for the 8004 as it is given now: three separately timed sections since September 1, 2026.
The Praxis Elementary Education Fundamentals: Social Studies test (8004) has 77 selected-response questions in 100 minutes: about 33 on United States History, Government and Citizenship in a 40-minute section, then about 23 on Geography, Anthropology, and Sociology and 21 on World History and Economics in 30 minutes each. Ten to fifteen percent of the questions place the content inside a teaching task and draw on the Social Studies Inquiry Skills: compelling and supporting questions, disciplinary tools, sources, and conclusions. Where Praxis Steps is available you can take each category as its own appointment and retake only the one you do not pass. This study guide was written for that test and no other.
Every content chapter starts from the test's own topic list. Each topic is taught in plain prose with tables, timelines, and maps drawn for the book, followed by a Classroom Connection, the terms candidates most often confuse, and twelve practice questions. Quoted documents are public-domain texts, from the Mayflower Compact and the Constitution to Hammurabi's Code and Luther's theses, and dates use B.C.E. and C.E., as the test does.
