For the 2026–2027 test year: the SLLA 6990, taught category by category and practiced on both of its clocks.
The School Leaders Licensure Assessment (6990) gives you 120 selected-response questions in 165 minutes, then four written cases in 75 minutes. The questions cover the six leadership categories ETS built on the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL). The cases hand you a school, a data table, a memo or a set of notes, and ask what you would do and why. Each case is scored 0 to 3, and together they are a quarter of your score. This book prepares you for both halves.
Each chapter follows the ETS outline. Mission, vision, and continuous improvement; professional development, curriculum, and assessment; school climate, equity, and student support; ethics and the law; operations, budgets, and staffing; families and the community. Every content chapter ends with 12 practice questions, and every explanation ends with the code of the ETS outline statement it tests.

Checked at the source. Section timing, question counts by category, the 75 and 25 percent weights, the written-response scoring guide, the $425 fee, the 28-day retest rule, and state passing scores were read from the ETS Study Companion, the School Leadership Series Information Bulletin, and the ETS passing-score table in October 2026.
